# Security Seal Types — Data Dictionary

## File and value conventions

CSV files use UTF-8, a header row, comma delimiters and CSV quoting. Nested arrays and objects are JSON-encoded in CSV cells and native objects in the combined JSON. Blank CSV values correspond to absent/null JSON values or an empty source field; they never mean zero, failure, no certification or evidence of absence. Boolean values are true/false. Source IDs, exclusion statuses and review scopes must travel with a reused record.

The 18 register rows, 19 authority rows and eleven attempted pages have different denominators. Three taxonomy attempts and one authority reference are excluded from substantive findings. No source-code or commercial-reuse licence for another publisher’s documents is asserted.

## seal_type_register

One entry per documented mechanical type, editorial Customs colour/use grouping or electronic family. These groupings overlap; do not interpret the total as a universal count of mutually exclusive types.

| `reusable_per_source` | Reuse statement limited to the cited provision; not blanket legal authorisation. |
| `tier` | ★ means the specified source passage was directly reviewed; the scope field governs what was established. Blank means no verified substantive claim. |
| `source_url` | Primary-source or explicitly identified original-document-copy URL supporting this record. |

## authority_ledger

One record per instrument or scoped provision. Multiple records may refer to one instrument. Included and excluded records are explicitly separated.

## published_taxonomy_audit

One record per attempted URL from the eleven-page frame. Only records with included_in_count_analysis=true contribute counts. The selected grouping is not every term on that page.

## manufacturer_comparison

One record per selected Universeal UK model. Values are the publisher’s declarations, not independent test results or certification findings.

## published_threshold_claims

Two publishers’ purported S-class tensile minima. Neither is endorsed as the applicable ISO threshold; the numbers are retained to document a disagreement.

## sources

One bibliography record per source or source/document grouping. Additional URLs identify hosted copies where relevant.

## Calculation inputs and derived values

`calculation_inputs` retains the source-linked test/sample counts and Florida value thresholds. The exported `derived` object is recalculated from those inputs and the source records, not accepted as a fixed result. The two supplier threshold claims produce a ratio of 2.27; this measures their disagreement, not an ISO requirement. The 0.75 mm cable-diameter difference compares two identified models whose body dimensions also differ. Neither arithmetic result establishes product performance or compliance.

## Reproduction

Place the Python script beside the combined JSON, then run:

An alternate source can be specified with `--source /path/to/security-seal-types-dataset-v1.1-2026-09-15.json`. The script uses Python’s standard library, produces the six CSV files and combined JSON, and exits with an error for unreadable or invalid input. It does not fetch websites. Factual refreshing requires source re-review before editing the retained source records.
